Skills
- Deep knowledge of health insurance underwriting rules and carrier operations
- Proven experience leading operational teams and cross-functional projects
- High data fluency and comfort with Excel, Tableau, Redash or similar analytics tools
- Strong systems thinking and operational rigor with a bias for execution
- Excellent written and verbal communication and stakeholder management
- Ability to influence without formal authority and drive measurable improvements
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of individual contributors (approx. 9 people) to execute carrier operations
- Resolve escalations across quoting, underwriting, and fulfillment workflows and drive issues to resolution
- Maintain accuracy of plan libraries, rate tables, and carrier underwriting rule systems
- Ensure process documentation, system configurations, and data flows are audit-ready
- Act as primary operational contact for carrier partners and coordinate tactical needs and escalations
- Conduct recurring business reviews with carriers to monitor SLAs and identify improvement opportunities
- Partner with R&D, Sales, and Benefits teams to improve quoting logic, onboarding, and fulfillment processes
- Identify operational hotspots and lead interventions to reduce friction and prevent recurrence
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Healthcare, or related field preferred or equivalent work experience
- Relevant certifications or continued education in insurance/benefits operations a plus
