The Opportunity

With both Superhuman and Coda—now part of Grammarly—we’re reimagining the productivity suite for the AI era. To make this vision real, we’re looking for an innovative and quick-learning intern to join our tight-knit research team for three months in summer 2026.

In the Product and Design organization, the UXMR team has the unique opportunity to uncover the insights that shape how people experience our product and how we bring our mission to life. By connecting deeply with users and bringing evidence into decision-making, we help the team design experiences that genuinely enhance how people connect and express themselves. Your work will inform products used by millions each day and contribute to redefining how people write, learn, and communicate.

As a Research Intern, you will help tackle some of Grammarly’s most exciting product and design challenges. In this role, you will:

  • Partner with a mentor to scope, conduct, and deliver a fully formed research project over the course of your internship.
  • Contribute to an end-to-end research project that directly supports your team’s high-level goals.
  • Help design, plan, and run user research studies (e.g., interviews, usability testing, surveys) to uncover insights about user needs and behaviors.
  • Synthesize findings into clear, actionable insights that inform product and design decisions.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, engineers, and fellow researchers to deliver impactful solutions grounded in user evidence.
  • Learn and apply a variety of research methods across qualitative and quantitative approaches, depending on project needs.
  • Gain experience working in cutting-edge AI product spaces, helping the team understand how people interact with AI-powered features.
  • Build your research skills in a supportive environment, while contributing to products used by tens of millions of people every day.

Qualifications

  • Can collaborate in person in our San Francisco hub at least two days per week.
  • Is available for the entire duration of a twelve-week program.
  • Is currently enrolled in a full-time, degree-seeking program and in the process of obtaining a Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Human–Computer Interaction, Psychology, Cognitive Science, Anthropology, Sociology, Human Factors, Information Science, or a related field
  • Has a resume and, if available, examples of research projects or case studies from coursework, passion projects, or previous internships.
  • Has familiarity with user research methods (e.g., interviews, usability testing, surveys) through academic or practical experience.
  • Is comfortable using collaboration and documentation tools (e.g., Figma/FigJam, Miro, Google Docs) and is open to learning research-specific tools (e.g., Qualtrics, UserTesting, dscout).
  • Demonstrates strong problem-solving and communication skills, especially when articulating research findings and collaborating cross-functionally.
  • Is curious, adaptable, and eager to learn from mentorship and hands-on experience in a fast-moving environment.
  • Is excited to contribute to research that directly informs product decisions and impacts millions of users.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected pay for this position is $48.00 - $60.00 USD/hour and may be modified in the future.
