Staff Backend Engineer - Grafana k6 | USA | Remote
Skills
- 8+ years building backend systems in production (any major language; willingness to learn Go required)
- Production experience running and monitoring Kubernetes
- Cloud-native experience (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Strong knowledge of distributed systems and service design
- Familiarity with observability tooling (Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, OpenTelemetry)
- Excellent debugging, problem solving and technical leadership skills
- Experience delivering end-to-end projects and participating in on-call rotations
Responsibilities
- Design and implement high-quality, scalable backend services consumed across Grafana Cloud products
- Drive technical direction and long-term strategy for synthetics and k6-related systems
- Collaborate with product, design, docs, sales, and support to deliver cohesive product experiences
- Plan, estimate, coordinate and deliver large projects spanning multiple systems and teams
- Coach and mentor engineers; raise engineering standards and best practices
- Participate in on-call rotations and incident response, owning the reliability of services
- Represent Grafana Labs in open-source forums and contribute to community projects
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- Advanced degree is a plus but not required; practical experience acceptable in lieu of formal education
