Progeny Combat Systems Senior Manager

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience, plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience to meet managerial expectations.  Must have:

    • Experience with submarine combat and launcher systems
    • Experience with unmanned vehicle and weapon integration

 

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is Required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

We are looking for a Progeny Combat Systems Senior Manager.  

 

Duties and Tasks:

  • Establishes operational objectives and work plans, and delegates assignments to subordinates
  • Senior management reviews objectives to determine success of operation
  • Involved in developing, modifying and executing company policies that affect immediate operations and may also have company-wide effect
  • Below executive management and responsible for managing the activities of people, including staffing and organization development, performance and disciplinary issues, salary planning etc.
  • May also be responsible for hire/fire decisions
  • Directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering efforts within areas of responsibility
  • Review’s status of projects and budgets, manages schedules, and prepares status reports
  • Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives
  • Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, clients and other stakeholders
  • Leads large, complex engineering support project teams by applying technical or non-technical expertise in support of strategic engineering goals
  • Responsibilities include both planning and execution and/or coordinates team member assignments for division level functional organization and builds and maintains the team's functional capabilities
  • Provides technical input to Project or Engineering Management in linking task-related strategy to achieve business goals
  • Works on issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives
  • Establishes and assures adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements
  • Regularly interacts with senior management or executive levels on matters concerning several functional areas, divisions, and/or customers
  • Manages activities of two or more sections or departments
  • In some instances, this manager may have subordinate supervisors
  • Provides leadership in defining technology, tool and process strategy across a technical domain
  • Guides the focus and has overall responsibility for the engineering aspects of a technical domain, to include the acquisition of critical resources
  • Oversees the selection, development and evaluation of personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function
  • Provides leadership and technical/managerial content for proposals with identification of cross business unit strengths and technical shortcomings
  • Provides proposal teaming recommendation to shore up any shortcomings for optimum win probabilities
  • Leads specific process improvement activities
  • Determines and implements the organizational training needs in accordance with the requirements of the technical domain
  • Ensures that engineers are active in developing risk mitigation plans and managing risk profiles
  • Ensures process compliance of all engineering activity in areas of responsibility
  • Regular contact with senior management in other divisions of the company
  • May be responsible for multiple functions, locations, products or technical abilities
  • Drives a culture continuous improvement throughout the department

  • Expected to integrate highly complex activities within their discipline and across functional and program boundaries
  • Fully capable of managing work, setting objectives and meeting commitments, and is an excellent team player
  • Requires the ability to change the thinking of, or gain acceptance from, others in sensitive situations, without damage to the relationship
  • Recognized internally and externally as an expert in their field
  • Erroneous decisions will result in critical delay(s) in schedules and/or unit operations and may jeopardize overall business activities
  • Travel may be required
  • Security clearance may be required
  • Most or all work is completed through the management of others

Workplace Options:

Salary Note

This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.

Combined Salary Range

USD $208,488.00 - USD $231,291.00 /Yr.
