Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end engineering across backend, frontend, infrastructure, QA, and security.
- Act as the technical authority: design, review, and contribute to Rails services, React apps, and infrastructure architecture.
- Define and execute the long-term technical roadmap for scalability, resilience, and sustainability.
- Oversee large-scale AWS infrastructure (multi-million dollar spend) and distributed job orchestration.
- Operationalize security: rapid patching, incident prevention, and audit readiness.
- Lead rapid technical integration of acquisitions and unification of codebases and systems.
- Establish and enforce engineering discipline: CI/CD pipelines, deep test coverage, observability, and automation.
- Recruit, coach, mentor, and build career paths and training programs to elevate the technical bar.
- Deliver measurable early wins within the first 90 days to establish credibility and momentum.
- Collaborate with the founder/CEO and cross-functional leadership to align engineering with company strategy.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent industry experience
- Advanced degree (MS/PhD) preferred but not required
- Demonstrated continuous technical learning and professional development
