I worked at Files.com for a little over 4 years from 2014-2018 as an Engineer when our headcount was small. I left and returned in January 2023. This is the first time I "boomeranged" back to a previous employer and have now worked at Files.com for over 5.5 years combined. I thoroughly enjoy my job and believe it is an engineering led culture across the entire company. The way our engineering department The perks and benefits are fantastic. The perks increase over time and I now receive 5 weeks of PTO a year, at my 5 year mark I received $2,500 towards a trip and once I hit my 6 year mark I will soon receive first class flights domestically for company trips (which occur several times a year) As an engineer I'm able to make large impacts to a platform that supports a massive user base. My scope of impact is significant. The company's financial stability and overall performance is something I'm proud to be a part of.Cons
It's an environment that moves quickly and everyone needs to be highly communicative. There is a lot of process that everyone is expected to follow. These processes are our guardrails and needed in a technical environment where not following process can significantly hurt our reputation with clients. This is still a con as most people need to adjust to how we operate and this degree of transparency isn't for everyone. For the people that like this type of environment - you can't find a better company than Files.com
