Job Description

  • Plans, organizes and directs comprehensive recreation programs within the Job Corps Program
  • Develops and promotes recreational programs which meet the needs of all trainees - Schedules of activities in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner
  • Extends partnerships to other recreational providers in the community
  • Oversees the staffing patterns and development of all staff within department
  • Submits Calendar of Events for review on a monthly basis. Due to the Director of Social Development by the 15th of each month
  • Meets with new students during first week of Stay and monitors trainee participation in various activities based on spending limits
  • Ensures activity costs and trainee participation logs are reconciled with Accounting Department - Maintains stock of trainee Uniforms and various other athletic garments
  • Schedules a variety of recreational programs which encourages maximum trainee participation leading to positive social behaviors
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Physical Education or related field; or four to six years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation/First Aid Certifications
  • Must be able to perform supervisory functions of planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluation of recreation programs and staff
