Coursera is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to drive the architectural vision for its Learning Content Experience team. This role involves collaborating across teams to optimize content delivery and enhance learning experiences.
Responsibilities: Key responsibilities include developing scalable architectures, mentoring engineers, and leading projects that improve system quality and developer productivity across the Learning Content Experience domain.
Skills: Candidates should have over 8 years of software engineering experience, with expertise in scalable application design, as well as knowledge of full-stack development using Java, MySQL, NoSQL, and other technologies.
Qualifications: A strong background in architecture decisions, full software development lifecycle, and effective communication with stakeholders is preferred. Bonus qualifications include experience with ReactJS, GraphQL, and generative AI tools.
Location: This position is based in the US with flexibility for remote work or office use, depending on the chosen work model.
Compensation: $167600 - $277720 / Annually

Job Overview:
The Learning Content Experience team delivers all aspects of our content experience, including how content is ingested, generated, or authored, and how learners engage with instruction, practice their skills, and undergo evaluation. This area also includes the supporting building blocks for this experience, such as how learners receive guidance throughout the process, how an engaging, hands-on experience can be delivered in a specialized domain, and even how we assess learners' skills and tie them to outcomes.
As a senior staff engineer, you will help shepherd technical design choices and influence broader direction throughout this area. Technology plays a critical role in how we deliver the best content experience to our learners, and the right technical choices will help us continue to maintain and build upon this learning experience in years to come.

US Zone 1: From $209,600 to $277,720
US Zone 2: From $178,600 to $235,850
US Zone 3: From $167,600 to $222,000
The range(s) listed above is the expected annual base salary for this role, subject to change.
Salary is just one component of Coursera’s total rewards package. All regular employees are also eligible for a bonus program and equity in the form of RSU’s.
A number of factors are taken into account when determining pay, which includes: job level, location, training/education, business need, skill set and internal equity.
