Carnegie Mellon University’s Robotics Institute is searching for an Engineer I to join their team. This is a great opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and bold work environment. You will Perform general engineering assignments under supervision related to the design, testing, installation and modification of equipment, processes or structures.
Responsibilities:
Contributes to the technical design and development of components and equipment used in research and development.
Design and deploy AI models for tasks such as human detection and interaction. Support system testing and troubleshooting to ensure real-world readiness.
Develop and implement algorithms for autonomous control, SLAM and navigation. Ensure reliable communication between hardware components and the robotic system.
Develops, modifies and maintains operating protocols/procedures and related technical documentation.
Identifies operating or installation problems. Recommends design modifications and or solutions.
Integrate sensors like cameras, LiDAR, and radar with robotic systems to enable accurate perception and navigation. Use frameworks like ROS 2 to process and manage sensor data efficiently.
Tests design and operation and performance of equipment and components.
A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
