Skills
- Substation and gen-tie design review (one-lines, three-lines, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams)
- Protection and control scheme review and relay/SCADA interface understanding
- Familiarity with transformers, HV breakers, and physical substation schematics
- Basic power system studies knowledge: load flow, insulation coordination, grounding, arc-flash, TOV, harmonics
- Understanding of grid integration requirements for renewables and SCADA architecture
- Ability to review scopes of work, engineering contracts, and technical specifications
- Strong written and verbal communication and organization skills
Responsibilities
- Review and recommend HV/substation and gen-tie equipment and design specifications with supply chain and vendors
- Support independent engineer (IE) and bank due diligence by providing documents, answering Q&A, and reviewing reports
- Perform owner-engineering reviews and approvals across design stages
- Coordinate pre-construction and construction phase design reviews and vendor document evaluations
- Interface with interconnection providers and transmission operators to meet requirements
- Support commissioning by reviewing apparatus testing and coordinating with utilities/ISOs
- Provide technical input on contracts (Interconnection, Procurement, PPA, EPC, O&M) and assess technical risk
- Create conceptual system designs and site layouts and perform value-engineering analysis
- Maintain project timelines and cross-functional collaboration to deliver engineering deliverables
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Relevant coursework or training in power systems and protection/control
