Job Summary
The Director of the IT Project Management Office (PMO) is a strategic leadership role responsible for establishing and leading a high-performing PMO to support the successful delivery of IT initiatives across the organization. The Director will ensure that projects are aligned with business goals, delivered on time, within budget, and according to scope and quality standards. This role partners closely with executive leadership, IT, operations, and clinical teams to drive strategic alignment, governance, and operational excellence in project delivery. The role will be a key partner with the Orange and San Diego Associate Chief Information Officer and with will be part of the CIO's Senior Management team which is accountable for driving excellence in IT Project Portfolio management across the system. The Director IT Project Management Office will be a key business and clinical operations partner with executive leadership in supporting the implementation of strategic and operational goals and objectives for the organization.Pay Range
Minimum $170,789 Midpoint $226,283 Maximum $281,778Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.
Experience
• Required: Seven (7) years of progressive IT project management experience. Five (5) years of leadership experience managing PMO operations.
• Preferred: Significant cumulative experience within a large healthcare system, with proven change management experience.
Education
• Required: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field
• Preferred: Master’s degree in information systems, computer science, business administration, or related field.
Training
• Required: None required.
Specialized Skills
• Required: Strong understanding of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid). Demonstrated experience in portfolio management and resource optimization. Excellence in stakeholder management and executive communication. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Proven track record in delivering large-scale, complex IT projects on time and within budget. Deep understanding of portfolio management, change management, and enterprise project governance. Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficient with project management tools such as Microsoft Project, ServiceNow, Smartsheet, or similar PPM platforms. Strong customer service orientation and awareness to collaborate across the health system to drive key critical decisions and resolve complex problems. Experience leading and implementing change in complex organizations. Ability to handle highly sensitive or confidential legal and/or business information. Expertise in managing holding vendors accountable to contractual performance measures. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain working relationships with all levels of the health system. Strong negotiation skills and problem-solving capabilities.
