Staff Software Engineer, Experimentation
Skills
- Expertise in Go or other backend languages (Java, Python, Ruby)
- Hands-on experience with A/B testing, multivariate testing, and feature flagging
- Strong background in analytics, statistics, and machine learning concepts
- Experience with distributed systems and large-scale application architecture
- Familiarity with AWS or other cloud platforms and cloud-native technologies
- Experience with NoSQL databases and Big Data tooling
- Rigorous approach to testing and TDD
- Prior experience with CI/CD pipelines and on-call operations (preferred)
- Ability to mentor and lead engineering teams
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy components of Chime’s internal experimentation platform at scale
- Solve scale and usability problems in causal inference specific to the business
- Partner with Data Engineering and DSML to introduce new statistical methodologies and improve experiment performance
- Drive architectural direction, mentor engineers, and promote engineering best practices and quality
- Lead the team’s adoption of GenAI in a safe and sustainable way
- Deliver secure, reliable, high-performance infrastructure for low-latency, high-volume experiments
- Write thoroughly tested, high-quality code and ensure robust releases
- Follow Agile methodologies and practice test-driven development (TDD)
- Participate in an on-call rotation to address platform incidents
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in a relevant field preferred but not required
- Relevant coursework or experience in statistics, experimental design, or data science
