Tax Resolution Specialist
Skills
- 3–5 years payroll tax compliance, tax notice resolution, or payroll operations experience
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
- Experience communicating with tax agencies and pursuing abatements
- Familiarity with payroll systems, tax filing platforms, or case management tools
- Ability to translate complex tax issues into clear, partner-facing communication
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities
Responsibilities
- Triage and prioritize incoming tax notices and manage a notice resolution queue
- Investigate root causes of payroll filing and payment issues across federal, state, and local agencies
- Communicate directly with agencies to resolve notices, pursue penalty abatements, and secure outcomes
- Provide clear, timely updates to partners and internal stakeholders
- Identify trends and surface systemic issues to product, engineering, and compliance teams
- Maintain and refine standard operating procedures for notice handling and agency outreach
- Collaborate with Payroll Ops, R&D, and Revenue to streamline workflows and reduce risk
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
- Relevant certifications or coursework in payroll/tax (preferred but not required)
