Skills
- 6+ years professional software engineering experience with at least 1+ year leading projects or small teams
- Proficiency in one or more languages: Go, Python, TypeScript, Java
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of relational and analytical databases (Postgres, BigQuery, DynamoDB) and search (Elasticsearch)
- Familiarity with testing frameworks (Jest, Mocha, Ginkgo) and automated testing practices
- Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
- Experience building and maintaining REST APIs and webhooks
- Strong communication and collaborative leadership skills
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship for a small engineering team through design, implementation, and delivery of end-to-end features.
- Design, build, and maintain backend services (Go, Python, Java) and frontend applications (TypeScript).
- Architect systems for scale, performance, and reliability; optimize PostgreSQL, BigQuery, and Elasticsearch.
- Work directly with merchants to gather requirements, troubleshoot issues, and deliver customer-focused solutions.
- Drive fraud detection, card tokenization, and compliance efforts with card network and data privacy standards.
- Design and maintain REST APIs and webhooks for commerce platform integrations (Magento 2, BigCommerce, Salesforce Commerce Cloud).
- Ensure observability and reliability through monitoring, logging, alerting (Datadog); lead incident response and on-call rotations.
- Identify and automate process inefficiencies; contribute to CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code practices.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Formal education not strictly required when paired with relevant experience and demonstrable skills
