Role Overview
Bioscope.ai is seeking a Chief Technology Officer to provide strategic, organizational, and external technical leadership as the company scales. The CTO will focus on scaling engineering teams, representing Bioscope externally, strengthening execution and operational maturity, and ensuring long-term technical and organizational health.
This is a senior leadership role emphasizing leverage, communication, and strategy over hands-on implementation.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Organization & Talent
Own hiring strategy and execution for engineering and technical roles
Design and evolve engineering org structure, roles, and career ladders
Establish performance management, feedback, and promotion frameworks
Build a strong engineering culture focused on ownership, clarity, and delivery
Reduce single points of failure and plan for organizational scale
Execution & Operational Leadership
Ensure engineering execution scales effectively as the company grows
Own planning processes, delivery health, and cross-team coordination
Establish incident response, postmortem, and operational best practices
Identify and manage technical and organizational risks
Provide visibility into tradeoffs, capacity, and long-term constraints
Product & Strategy Partnership
Interface with product leadership on high-level planning and sequencing
Provide long-range technical strategy (12–36 month horizon)
Advise on build vs. buy decisions and major technical investments
Help translate product vision into scalable technical direction
Maintain alignment across engineering and product leadership on priorities and risks
External Representation & Communication
Represent Bioscope.ai in external technical contexts:
Customer and partner meetings
Vendor and infrastructure providers
Conferences, panels, and industry events
Serve as a technical executive voice for investors and advisors
Support technical diligence for partnerships, enterprise deals, and fundraising
Leadership & Cross-Functional Interface
Communicate technical realities clearly to non-technical stakeholders
Help align engineering, product, and business goals at the executive level
Explicit Non-Responsibilities
To ensure clarity and effective execution, the CTO will not be responsible for:
Day-to-day architecture or design decisions
Tactical implementation or coding ownership
Routine code reviews or task-level prioritization
Qualifications
Prior CTO or senior technical leadership experience at a scaling startup
Proven success building and leading engineering organizations
Strong external communication skills with executives, customers, and partners
Ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels
Comfort delegating technical ownership and empowering senior engineers
Experience representing technology to investors and boards is a plus
