Qualifications: 10+ years in executive communications or journalism with experience as a ghostwriter and familiarity with enterprise buyer psychology.
Location: Remote work is available with expectations to be in-person two days per week at one of our US office hubs.
Compensation: Not provided by employer. Typical compensation ranges for this position are between $130,000 - $180,000.

We are a hybrid company with a focus on in-person collaboration when necessary. Employees are expected to be available to work from one of our office hubs at least two days per week, or eight days per month. Our US hub locations include: Austin, TX; Chicago, IL; New York City, NY; San Francisco, CA; and the Washington, DC metro area. As Principal Writer & Strategist, Executive Thought Leadership, you’ll be the editorial voice behind BetterUp’s executive team — a sharp, trusted ghostwriter who turns their ideas into speeches, articles, and stories that shape how BetterUp’s leaders show up in the world.
This role blends editorial craft, marketing instinct, and creative storytelling. You’ll dig for insights, interview leaders, uncover fresh angles, and translate complex ideas into clear, resonant narratives across formats — speeches, bylines, presentations, video scripts, and social media. You’ll write fast, think visually, and help our leaders communicate with purpose and humanity.
Reporting to the Director, Content Strategy and Thought Leadership, you’ll collaborate across Brand, PR, Labs, and Product to build BetterUp’s thought leadership platform and elevate our executive voices in the market and help drive revenue and growth.
