Overview

As a Senior Associate, Construction on the construction management team, your role will include oversight and management of development and construction projects throughout our clients’ portfolios. This will include coordination with partners, consultants, the asset management team, as well as direct client facing responsibilities. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team that is involved in all aspects of the development and construction life cycle. 


Key Responsibilities
  • Support the construction and asset management team with deals involving construction or capital expenditure projects;
  • Analyze construction progress while identifying potential risks, opportunities, and concerns;
  • Prepare comprehensive cost and design review reporting for development projects;
  • Research and analyze market trends with respect to current and anticipated costs of material and labor;
  • Participate in deal portfolio updates with a focus on development and construction.
  • Plans, organizes, and prepares reports and client deliverables such as Project Site Reports (PSR), Construction Monitoring Reports (CMR), and Plan and Cost Reviews (PCR).
  • Visit active construction project sites as needed.
  • Manage lender draw and pay application processes with client and asset management teams;
  • Liaison with operating partners, borrowers, and leading members of the asset management team to ensure business plan execution;
  • Consistently assess the value of re-engineering a project versus time and scheduling constraints, saving costs without affecting the integrity of the project. Effectively weigh the cost/benefits to the overall project and customer experience;
  • Develop institutional knowledge for the firm through case studies and contributing to an internal database of project information;
  • Oversee the successful completion of construction projects within our client’s portfolios;
  • Participate in the continued growth and improvement of all reporting functions within the construction team; 


Professional Experience
  • A minimum of 8 years' relevant experience
  • General contracting, developer, construction management, architectural, or engineering experience preferred; client-facing experience preferred
  • Experience with the following software/technology:
·        Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat and BlueBeam
·        Construction scheduling software (ex. Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, etc.)
·        Construction/project management software (ex. Procore, CMiC, BuilderTrend/CoConstruct, Smartsheet, etc.)
·        Construction technologies such as BIM, AutoCAD, SketchUp, BlueBeam
·        Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), Lean Construction, Push-Pull Planning

  • Experience with standard general contractor and consultant contract forms
  • Experience with running the bidding/solicitation and vendor selection process
  • Experience navigating the entitlement and planning process


Education/Certification
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in construction management, engineering, or architecture
  • PMP, LEED Certification preferred

  •  Leadership & Management: Ability to supervise and direct people and/or resources to meet department goals. Able to motivate people and plan/prioritize operations while responding to changing conditions. Able to cultivate and build relationships with team and clients. Models values and behaviors. 


Travel Requirements
  • Local and nationwide travel to assets and client sites required on an as-needed basis, approximately 2-4 times per month depending on deal list.

  • Ability to work independently, and prioritize duties to ensure timely completion. The ability to collaborate is also imperative.
  • Requires active listening, critical thinking, making decisions, time management, as well as administration skills.
  • Ability to interact in a courteous professional manner at all times.
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required.

$140,000 - $140,000 a year
$140,000 base, plus discretionary bonus 
Offered salary is based on a variety of factors, including skills, experience, and qualifications for the role.
