We are seeking a skilled and experienced Software Asset Management (SAM) Business Analyst to join our team. This role is crucial to our mission of helping government clients optimize their software assets and ensure licensing compliance.
You will be responsible for analyzing software usage, managing license agreements, and providing strategic recommendations to reduce costs and mitigate risk. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional with a strong understanding of SAM best practices and a passion for data-driven problem-solving.
This is a fully remote, full-time position.
Data Analysis & Optimization
Gather and analyze software license data from various sources to identify opportunities for cost savings and license optimization.
Conduct regular software inventory and usage analysis to ensure accurate asset records.
Develop and maintain SAM policies, procedures, and best practices.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Reporting
Work closely with IT, finance, legal, and other stakeholders to understand their needs and provide strategic guidance on software licensing.
Conduct detailed requirements collection and translate complex license data into clear, actionable insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Prepare and present reports on license compliance, usage trends, and cost-saving opportunities.
Implementation & Process Improvement
Help implement and optimize tools such as Power BI, ServiceNow, Jira, and other platforms to improve SAM processes.
Ensure that all software asset records and documentation are accurate and up-to-date.
Ensure strict compliance with software vendor licensing agreements and governmental regulations.
Support internal and external software audits, providing necessary documentation and analysis.
Experience
Minimum of 6 years of experience as a Business Analyst, with a strong focus on Software Asset Management (SAM).
Prior experience working within federal or state government agencies is required.
Demonstrated experience with SAM tools such as Flexera, ServiceNow, or Jira.
Hands-on experience with the implementation and use of tools like Power BI, ServiceNow, and Jira is a plus.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Strong technical writing and documentation skills are a must.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools, including Microsoft Excel.
High level of attention to detail.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field.
