Technical 6-dof Simulation Lead
Skills
- Proficiency with Matlab and Simulink (including Embedded Coder)
- Strong C++ and Python programming skills
- Extensive experience in real-time and faster-than-real-time modeling and simulation
- Deep understanding of aerodynamics, rotorcraft and/or fixed-wing dynamics, sensors and actuators
- Experience developing SIL and HIL test environments
- Knowledge of numerical methods for simulation and control
- Ability to analyze flight test data and debug system-level issues
- Eligible to obtain and maintain U.S. Secret security clearance
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, debug, and validate high-fidelity 6-DOF simulations for real-time and faster-than-real-time execution
- Develop, test, and iterate flight controllers and guidance algorithms in simulation
- Create and maintain Software-In-The-Loop (SIL) and Hardware-In-The-Loop (HIL) testbeds to support flight test readiness
- Integrate GNC software with simulation and collaborate with flight software and systems teams to define requirements and verify functionality
- Model aerodynamics, rotorcraft/fixed-wing dynamics, sensors, actuators, and flexible body dynamics to support algorithm evaluation
- Analyze flight and test data to verify vehicle performance, evaluate controller behavior, and diagnose anomalies
- Implement numerical methods and optimization techniques required for robust real-time simulation
- Maintain simulation toolchains (Matlab/Simulink, C++, Python) and automate test/validation workflows
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering, or related field (required)
- Master’s degree or PhD in a related field focusing on dynamic systems and control (preferred)
