Supplier Quality Engineer, PCBs & Electronics
Skills
- Supplier quality engineering experience with PCBA, harnesses, mechanical structures and systems integration
- Hands-on experience with supplier qualification methods (PPAP, MSA, capability studies, FAIR, audits)
- Familiarity with IPC standards, J-STD-001, AS9100/ISO9001 QMS and first article inspection (AS9102)
- Proficiency with GD&T, FMEA/PFMEA, APQP and statistical analysis tools (Minitab, JMP, MATLAB)
- Ability to perform source inspections and flow down source control requirements at electrical suppliers
- Strong ownership, cross-functional communication, and supplier-facing negotiation skills
- Ability to travel up to 50% to supplier and manufacturing sites and obtain TS/SCI clearance
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with design and product teams to provide DFx feedback and generate supplier-ready product data (drawings, BOMs, part/material requirements).
- Drive supplier quality development through design reviews, process assessments, prototyping, and supplier qualification for precision mechanical parts and sub-assemblies.
- Assess supplier processes, equipment, and capabilities across metals, plastics, composites, and additive manufacturing to meet design intent.
- Define measurement systems, key/critical characteristics, and supplier qualification activities (capability analysis, PPAP, FAIR, audits, inspection development).
- Partner with sourcing and category management to improve supplier performance for cost, quality, delivery, and contractual compliance.
- Own supplier risk elimination, readiness reviews, audits, training, and documentation to ensure regulatory and flow-down requirement compliance.
- Lead RCCA/MRB activities and containments for purchased goods, driving SCARs and verification of corrective actions.
- Audit supplier production and quality management systems and refine supplier documentation and control plans.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field
- Or 5–8 years of equivalent relevant experience in supplier/manufacturing/quality engineering
