Staff Software Engineer, UAV
Skills
- Strong C++ or Rust proficiency in Linux development environments
- Deep knowledge of data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and code optimization
- Experience with robotics domains: motion planning, localization, controls, or perception
- Experience troubleshooting remotely deployed and embedded systems
- Hands-on experience with electrical and mechanical system testing
- Familiarity with simulation environments and Software-in-the-Loop testing
- Ability to work cross-functionally with hardware and manufacturing teams
- Eligible to obtain and maintain U.S. Secret security clearance
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain core robotics libraries (frame transforms, targeting, guidance) shared across UAV platforms
- Lead design and implementation of major product features, including Software-in-the-Loop simulators
- Optimize system performance (battery consumption, route planning, real-time constraints)
- Collaborate with hardware, manufacturing, and test teams throughout product lifecycle
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in remotely deployed systems
- Design and implement multi-agent coordination systems for UAVs
- Participate across the full software development lifecycle: design, prototype, test, deploy
- Stay current with and adopt emerging technologies to improve products and processes
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field (required)
- Master's or Ph.D. in a relevant field (preferred)
