- Modern Android development (Jetpack Compose, XML, Kotlin, Java)
- Backend/middleware proficiency (C++, Rust, or Golang)
- Networking fundamentals (TCP/UDP/Multicast, HTTP/REST, protobuf/gRPC)
- Experience building high-traffic, data-intensive or map-based systems
- Familiarity with ATAK/TAK ecosystem and plugin development
- Ability to design APIs and real-time telemetry pipelines
- Experience with CI/build tools and containerization (gradle, CMake, Cargo, Docker, CircleCI)
- User-centered design sensibility and strong communication skills
- Eligible to obtain/maintain U.S. Secret clearance
Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and deploy real-time, map-based Android UIs for displaying sensor data and controlling UAS through ATAK plugins.
- Define and implement APIs for telemetry, vehicle configuration, sensor/payload control, FMV streaming, and autonomous tasking.
- Collaborate with product designers, chief engineers, flight test teams, and end users to iterate on UX and requirements.
- Work across frontend and high-performance backend codebases (Java/Kotlin, C++/Rust/Golang) and maintain build/lifecycle tooling.
- Integrate with networking and middleware technologies (TCP/UDP/Multicast, HTTP/REST, protobuf/gRPC).
- Test software at multiple levels including simulation, benchtop hardware, and live flight testing.
- Provide on-call support and travel (up to ~30%) for field tests and customer engagements.
Education
- Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field
- 5+ years developing user-facing software, ideally with map-based or data-intensive systems
