- Ability to run rapid prototyping from material selection through execution
- Comfortable working with limited oversight and taking ownership
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with development and test engineers to build and test new optical and electro-mechanical systems for airborne, maritime, and space platforms
- Fabricate and assemble high-quality, high-reliability electro-mechanical assemblies
- Develop, implement, and operate integration and test fixtures; use and report results from existing test equipment
- Build and troubleshoot cables and wiring harnesses; perform soldering and crimping of connectors
- Own and maintain internal prototyping resources including mechanical and electrical fabrication equipment
- Manage R&D lab/space organization, facilities needs, and tooling inventory
- Support and travel to external laboratories and test sites as required
- Document assemblies, test procedures, and results; iterate on prototypes to meet design goals
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Technical certificate, Associate's degree, or coursework in electronics/mechanical trades preferred
