- Hands-on fabrication skills including machining, sheet metal, injection molding, and 3D printing
- Experience integrating motors, controllers, sensors, and electronics into mechanical designs
- Experience in product development, testing, and hardware integration
- Eligible to obtain and maintain U.S. Secret security clearance
Responsibilities
- Own hardware development lifecycle from concept through production and field use
- Design and develop infrared sensors and opto-mechanical subsystems for detection applications
- Apply first-principles physics to guide design and trade decisions
- Lead system integration into LIDAR/detection platforms and vehicle integrations
- Build prototypes, perform failure analysis, and transition successful designs to production
- Support customer-facing hardware demonstrations and test events
- Contribute to optical system design, implementation, and testing
- Define top-level system architecture trades for optimal system designs
- Perform rigorous opto-mechanical design, including tolerancing and documentation
- Travel to test sites as required for integration and validation
Education
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent experience)
- MS in related field preferred for advanced optical/system analysis roles
