Metrology Lab Specialist
Skills
- 3+ years experience programming and operating CMMs
- Proficient with precision measurement tools (micrometers, height gauges, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
- Experience with PC-DMIS and/or PolyWorks; acceptable experience with Calypso, MCosmos
- Fixture design and fixturing experience for CMMs
- Experience with CT scanning and vision measurement systems (e.g., Keyence)
- Calibration and lab maintenance practices
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Responsibilities
- Program and operate Hexagon (Romer) portable arm and fixed Hexagon CMMs using PC-DMIS to perform dimensional inspections
- Operate CT scanner and Keyence vision/measurement systems for part validation
- Design, build, and validate holding fixtures for CMM inspection
- Perform incoming supplier inspections and support inspections of internally manufactured components and assemblies
- Maintain metrology lab equipment, including calibration and cleanliness, following best practices
- Participate in root cause analysis, quality investigations, and continuous improvement activities
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 17025) and support knowledge sharing
- Collaborate with Quality Engineering and cross-functional teams to define inspection and reporting strategies
Education
- Associate's degree or technical training preferred
- Relevant metrology or manufacturing training/certification accepted
