About ALSO.
We’re ALSO, an electric mobility company originally conceived as a part of Rivian. We’re a passionate team of builders, dreamers, doers and innovators, focused on creating entirely new (not to mention, innovative and delightful) vertically integrated, small EVs designed to meet the global mobility challenges of today and tomorrow. Our mission is to inspire everyone to ride ALSO—replacing many local car, truck and SUV miles with ones on vehicles that are more affordable, more enjoyable and 10-50x more efficient.
ALSO is looking for a Sr. Staff Electrical Engineer, Vehicle Architecture to help us develop electronics systems for multiple micromobility platforms.
What You Will Do
Drive electrical architecture of micro-mobility platforms, including power distribution, energy storage, compute, sensors, lighting, safety systems, and connectivity modules.
Establish vehicle block diagrams, interfaces, and design standards that enable modularity and reuse across vehicle lines.
Evaluate trade-offs between performance, cost, reliability, and regulatory compliance in system design.
Provide technical direction to systems, electrical, firmware and cable harness teams.
Drive design for manufacturability, reliability, serviceability and safety, from concept to production.
Lead design reviews and ensure architecture compliance through the product lifecycle.
Partner with mechanical, firmware, and manufacturing engineering to integrate electrical systems into various vehicle platforms.
Collaborate with suppliers and technology partners to evaluate and qualify new components and subsystems.
Work closely with product management to align architecture with business and market requirements.
Stay up to date with emerging technologies in batteries, connectivity, sensors and multimedia systems and integrate them into future product roadmaps.
Benchmark competitive products and drive continuous improvement in efficiency, safety, and user experience.
Provide status updates in program meetings and to leadership.
What You Will Bring
8+ years of experience in electrical system design for micro-mobility, automotive, robotics, or related industries.
Proven track record architecting complex electrical systems and delivering from concept to production.
Excellent system-level thinking and ability to balance technical trade-offs.
Strong background in low (<60V) and high voltage electrical systems (<1kV).
Deep understanding of actuation systems, battery management systems, charging systems and energy storage technologies (UL 2272).
Familiarity with functional safety (UL 2271, ISO 4210, ISO 26262), EMC/EMI compliance (FCC part 15 and other relevant standards).
Experience with vehicle communication networks (CAN/CAN-FD, Ethernet, LIN, BLE, LTE/eRedCap).
Knowledge of system modeling, simulation, and requirements management tools.
Strong leadership, mentoring, and influencing skills across disciplines.
Outstanding communication and documentation skills.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field.
The salary for this position ranges from $250,000 - $280,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
Why ALSO.
We’re passionate about helping the world find a better way to get there—wherever it is you’re headed.
We’re located in the heart of Silicon Valley and have brought together a world-class team from some of the biggest brands in the technology, automotive, cycling, outdoor recreation and retail spaces.
Together we’re working hands-on to imagine, design and build an entirely new solution to a global set of transportation challenges.
