Senior UX Researcher / Designer
Skills
- 7+ years in UX research and/or product design with measurable outcomes
- Proven portfolio demonstrating user-centered process and native product design
- Proficiency with Figma and modern prototyping tools
- Strong research synthesis, documentation, and stakeholder communication
- Accessibility-aware design (WCAG/Section 508 familiarity preferred)
- Experience collaborating in Agile, cross-functional teams
- Practical experience applying AI tools to design and research workflows
Responsibilities
- Lead and own user research efforts across methods (interviews, generative research, heuristic evaluation, tree testing, card sorting, workshops).
- Synthesize research findings, create deliverables, and communicate insights to product teams and VA stakeholders.
- Produce design artifacts from sketches to high-fidelity prototypes using Figma and VA Design System patterns.
- Collaborate with product managers and engineers to ensure implementation matches design intent and acceptance criteria.
- Use and promote AI tools to improve UX deliverables and team efficiency; integrate AI-powered services where appropriate.
- Keep UX work aligned to the product roadmap, flag risks, and evolve user stories with the Scrum team.
- Contribute to practice-building activities: outreach, hiring, proposals, and communities of practice.
Education
- No specific degree required — relevant professional experience and portfolio required
- Degree in HCI, Design, Psychology, Human Factors, or related field is a plus
