Staff Software Engineer, Backend (Streaming)
Skills
- Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka or equivalent event streaming platforms
- Experience with stream processing frameworks (Flink, Spark, Beam, Samza, etc.)
- Proficient programming in Python, Java or Kotlin
- Experience with Kafka Connect and Schema Registry
- Building and operating highly available distributed systems
- Familiarity with data platforms (Snowflake, Glue, Databricks) and data formats (Iceberg)
- Knowledge of CDC tools and patterns
- Monitoring, observability and production troubleshooting skills
- Experience designing frameworks and platform APIs for other engineering teams
Responsibilities
- Design and build data infrastructure systems, services and tools that scale to millions of users and transactions.
- Build and optimize high-throughput, low-latency streaming pipelines for critical business applications.
- Develop frameworks and platform services used by other engineering teams for production data flows.
- Support and improve reliability, availability and efficiency of streaming and data platform systems.
- Collaborate with ML, Analytics and product teams to deliver streaming solutions and best practices.
- Monitor, troubleshoot and maintain production streaming systems and incident response.
- Lead technical projects and mentor junior engineers on architecture and operational practices.
- Evaluate and adopt new open-source and commercial streaming technologies when appropriate.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Equivalent practical experience accepted in lieu of formal degree
