Job Description

Are you ready to lead the charge in shaping the future of energy solutions for data centers?

AECOM is seeking a visionary and dynamic Data Center Section Manager – Power to join our team. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to work across AECOM’s expansive energy practice, building capabilities, driving growth, and delivering innovative solutions to some of the world’s most forward-thinking data center developers and high-tech clients.

This position is a REMOTE role.

You will play a pivotal role in delivering complex, fast-paced substation, Natural Gas Power Plant, Solar, BESS, and Nuclear projects that meet the critical energy needs of data centers, with a heavy focus on natural gas generation and substations. This is your chance to make a lasting impact in a rapidly growing sector while collaborating with industry-leading experts and leveraging AECOM’s global resources.

 

Roles and Responsibilities of this position include but not limited to:

Lead and Inspire:

  • Collaborate across AECOM’s energy practice and other business lines to deliver integrated, cutting-edge solutions for data center energy projects.
  • Inspire and monitor multidisciplinary teams to achieve excellence in project delivery and client satisfaction.
  • Serve as a thought leader in the energy sector, representing AECOM in industry forums and shaping the future of power delivery and generation for data centers.

Drive Growth and Innovation:

  • Spearhead business development efforts by identifying opportunities, leading pursuits, and crafting winning proposals.
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with data center developers, high-tech clients, and other key stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute strategies to expand AECOM’s presence in the data center energy market, positioning us as the go-to partner for power needs.

Deliver Complex Projects:

  • Oversee a project portfolio of design, development, and implementation of natural gas power plants and substations that meet the unique demands of data centers.
  • Deliver fast-paced, high-stakes projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Address technical challenges with creativity and agility, leveraging AECOM’s global expertise to deliver exceptional results.

Collaborate and Build Capabilities:

  • Work across AECOM’s energy practice to strengthen our technical capabilities and drive continuous improvement.
  • Partner with other business lines, including Buildings + Places and Environment, to deliver holistic solutions that address the full spectrum of client data center needs.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies, ensuring AECOM remains at the forefront of innovation in energy solutions.

    Leadership and Collaboration:

    • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate diverse teams.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a talent for building relationships across stakeholders.
    • Strategic thinker with a proactive, results-oriented mindset.

    Business Acumen:

    • Experience in business development, including leading pursuits and proposals.
    • Ability to identify market opportunities and develop strategies to capitalize on them.
    • Strong understanding of financial metrics and project economics.

        Qualifications

        Minimum Requirements:

        • BA/BA and 10 years of relevant experience with focus on natural gas power plants or substations or demonstrated equivalency of experience and /or education, including 2 years of leadership.
        • Proven success in leading pursuits, managing client relationships, and driving business growth.
        • Understanding of the unique energy requirements for data centers, including reliability, scalability, and sustainability.

        Preferred Qualifications:

        • Familiarity with industry standards, codes, and regulations.
