Overview

Seeking a new career challenge?  Then Woolpert is seeking you!  Woolpert is hiring an Engineer in Training / Envionmental Scientist to join our dynamic Water Engineering Technology team.   This position is a hybrid (Charleston, SC office/remote) work position primarily responsible for assisting with technical delivery and reporting on projects. This position will be part of a team engaging with clients across the Utilities Market in support of client objectives in the areas of Stormwater/Wastewater/Water Design, H&H Modeling, Surface Water Quality, Data Analytics, Asset Management, and related studies and analyses. 

Responsibilities

As an Engineer in Training / Enviornmental Scientist at Woolpert, you will: 

  • Support various phases of our stormwater/wastewater/water projects
  • Field work around water, freshwater and marine, expected to be 40-60% of time.
  • Perform technical aspects of specified deliverables consistent with scope, schedule and budget.
  • Meet internal and external project deadlines. 
  • Complying with clearly defined QA/QC measures. 
  • Communicates issues affecting phase/task or project schedule, budget or quality and escalates unresolved issues to project manager, team leader, and/or discipline leader.
  • Delegating work to appropriate technical team members as necessary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in an engineering or environmental science program
  • Proven efficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel)
  • Experience in AutoCad Civil 3D is preferred
  • Experience in GIS software is preferred
  • Stormwater plan review experience is preferred
  • Must have a desire to work in the field when needed, including wet weather conditions
  • Must possess strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Must possess strong organizational skills to successfully manage multiple, competing priorities.
  • Must be able to interface effectively with clients, and other internal Woolpert resources.
  • Must be able to make sound decisions/recommendations based on the evaluation and synthesis of project information and data.
  • Must be physically and mentally capable of performing all essential duties, including field work, required of the position
  • Able to be in the Charleston, SC office or available for on-site field work during working hours, as required, to meet project team goals.
