Job Duties:
The Annual Giving Specialist supports the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee’s comprehensive annual giving program by ensuring high-quality data preparation and accuracy, providing tactical support for appeals, and coordinating crowdfunding opportunities. Reporting to the Director of Annual Giving, this role focuses on the operational and analytical aspects of annual fundraising campaigns, helping to grow participation and donor engagement across alumni, faculty/staff, students, and friends.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Data Preparation and Segmentation
Prepare, clean, and validate data lists for annual giving campaigns across mail, email, and digital channels.
Maintain data accuracy for donor segmentation, coding, and campaign reporting.
Submit updates to ensure a clean and reliable donor database.
Use PowerBI dashboards to track campaign performance and identify trends.
Collaborate with the Foundation IT team to troubleshoot database issues and maintain accurate data.
Project Coordination and Special Appeals
Support the execution of special appeals, including managing timelines and monitoring campaign performance.
Collaborate with the Annual Giving Director to ensure special appeals align with strategy and resource priorities.
Manage multiple annual giving marketing and outreach projects, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
Use project management tools to track deadlines, responsibilities, and deliverables.
Coordinate with internal teams and campus partners to align efforts with organizational goals.
Giving Day and Donor Engagement
Support the planning and execution of the University’s Annual Giving Day, utilizing platforms like GiveCampus.
Assist with preparing and segmenting donor lists to optimize engagement for Giving Day.
Help organize and manage challenges, ensuring alignment with campaign objectives.
Support the setup and configuration of features in the Giving Day platform, such as challenges and donor engagement tools.
Collaborate with the marketing team to create promotional materials and messaging for the event.
Ensure the smooth execution of the platform during the event.
Monitor Giving Day progress and provide relevant data for post-event analysis.
Crowdfunding Program Development and Management
Assist with the development and implementation of a campus-wide crowdfunding program.
Collaborate with campus departments, student groups, and faculty to identify and support projects suitable for crowdfunding.
Develop comprehensive program guidelines, including campaign approval processes, timelines, and best practices.
Assist project leaders with campaign creation, content development, and donor outreach.
Market the crowdfunding program to the campus community.
Monitor crowdfunding campaigns to provide support and ensure compliance with program guidelines.
Analyze campaign performance and provide data-driven recommendations for improvement.
Support for Creative and Marketing Efforts
Assist in drafting donor-centric messaging and materials for appeals, emails, and campaigns.
Provide data-driven insights to enhance the effectiveness of marketing strategies.
Collaborate with the marketing team to align messaging with campaign goals and audience needs.
Other duties as assigned. This position may require occasional evening or weekend work during peak periods, such as 414 for UWM Giving Days or other high-volume periods.

Compensation:
$53,000 - $60,000
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in handling donor data.
High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Familiarity with databases or CRM systems.
Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects.
Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
2 or more years of experience in data management, fundraising operations, or non-profit development support.
Experience working in higher education or non-profit annual giving.
Familiarity with digital fundraising or crowdfunding platforms.
Knowledge of direct mail and email marketing strategies.
Experience developing program guidelines or training materials.
