Job Summary:  The Senior Network Engineer will engineer, deliver, support, and secure network and access technology solutions. The position is responsible for development, maintenance and support of network and access technology solutions. The position serves as a technical subject matter expert for routing, switching, firewalls, web application firewalls, remote access, unified threat management systems, load-balancers, application delivery controllers, cloud infrastructure and proxies.  The role is responsible for escalated incidents, problem handling, and operational optimization.   Creates and maintains network performance baselines, defining monitoring thresholds and creating procedures for alarm response.   The role aids in the creation, maintenance, communication and optimization of all network support procedures, topology diagrams, and process documentation. 

Principal Duties:

  • Act as a subject matter expert in networking and network security.
  • Create and document build standards for proxies (SSLi), unified threat management systems, routers, switches, firewalls, application delivery controllers and web application firewalls that adhere to Information Security policy and networking best practices.
  • Responsible for third tier network incident escalation and problem management.  Manage ticket queues and build support documentation to reduce incident escalations.  Engineer solutions to resolve identified problems.
  • Represent the Network team in cross-functional support activities and projects.
  • Create and maintain baseline performance of new network solutions and enterprise applications. 
  • Operate and maintain enterprise network monitoring and support tools.
  • Support network equipment at store, corporate and branch locations.
  • Responsible for remediation of Security Vulnerability dashboard items.
  • Collaborate with the Network Security Architect to develop, review and apply security standards to network and access technology systems.
  • Analyze and refine operational design and configuration of network hardware, software and associated tools.
  • Establish performance baselines and operational parameters to ensure proper monitoring and optimal performance of network systems.  Build reports to capture baseline network performance and manage monitoring and alarms of network variance.
  • Provide technical leadership on assigned projects.  Create technical design documents, provide solutions engineering, and build standard operating procedures. Provide work effort and duration estimates for projects.   Track on time delivery of assigned work and raise risks and issues to the project manager
  • Create and follow procedures for all changes, particularly changes to equipment that is part of PCI-DSS audit scope.   Prevent temporary or undocumented configuration changes
  • Create and optimize production support models to enhance response times and maintain high availability of production network infrastructure.   Transition solutions from the Network and Access Technology Services team into operational support.
  • Build and deploy technology related solutions and make recommendations based on business or operational requirements.  Anticipate potential issues/risks and addresses with associated mitigation steps.
  • Research, evaluate and stay current on emerging tools, techniques and technologies; maintain skills and capabilities through education, training and hands-on experience.  Accept new responsibilities, as required, to enable business growth.
  • Provide lifecycle management engineering to optimize deployed solutions, develop new solutions to replace end of life technology.
  • Identify components of solutions that need to be monitored for capacity management and manage capacity of network and access technology solutions.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree related to Information Technology preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of related work experience in the field of networking.
  • Minimum of two years administering an enterprise network infrastructure and security with multiple branch locations in diverse geographical regions.
  • Experience with automation, orchestration, and scripting (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Python, PERL)
  • Expert in routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP)
  • Expert in data center switching Experience with SD-WAN (Cisco/Viptela, Meraki, Fortinet, VeloCloud, Versa)
  • Experience building and managing cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Experience with proxy and server OS (IIS, Apache, Tomcat, NGINX, Linux, Windows server)
  • Expertise configuring and managing network and network security technologies (firewall, UTM, IPS/IDS, WAF, DDI, proxies, ADC, load balancing, content switching)
  • Experience with cloud security products (CASB, Cloud WAF, Secure Web Gateway)
  • Skilled in LAN/WAN monitoring, and troubleshooting. 
  • Technical certification(s) desired (e.g. Cisco CCNA Security, CompTIA Security+, Citrix CCA-N, Palo Alto Networks PCNSE, AWS)
  • Expertise with wireless networking and wireless intrusion prevention systems.  (Meraki, Mist, Aruba)
  • Exposure to support ticketing and enterprise infrastructure management platforms.  (ServiceNow)
  • Experience configuring, optimizing, and troubleshooting enterprise routing and switching.
  • Experience with firewall support and management.  Palo Alto or Fortinet firewall experience preferred.
  • Working experience in enterprise infrastructure design, implementation, and support.
  • Experience with network monitoring tools (Datadog a plus) and performance reporting.
  • Knowledge of standard frameworks and processes (e.g., ITIL, SAFe, Scrum, Lean)
  • Understanding of network security principles, compliancy regulations, and maintenance of network security posture.  Experience with PCI-DSS compliancy preferred.
