War on the Rocks is looking for a detail-oriented content associate who is committed to the clear communication of sophisticated ideas about international security. This is a full-time, entry-level position that is ideal for someone who is interested in pursuing a career in national security.
Please note this is not a remote position. We have a hybrid schedule of three days in the office a week (T, W, Th). As such, we will only consider candidates who live in the Washington, DC metro area or who are willing to relocate there.
The Position
Content associates are responsible for social media, marketing, event organization, and serving our membership community. Associates gain a deep understanding of our audience and authors -- most of whom are current/former military personnel, civilian national security practitioners, government officials, scholars, or in the defense industry -- and, by extension, important issues pertaining to national security.
About the Publication

We value camaraderie, creativity, and expertise.
Before you apply, please (a) listen to this podcast by our founder, Ryan Evans, "10 Years of War on the Rocks," (b) read this article, also by Ryan Evans, which we published several years ago, "The Hard and Lovely Things About War on the Rocks."
A cover letter is required. In your cover letter, include an amusing story about yourself.
