Purpose
Graduate Assistant Graphic Designers assist the communications team with digital and print design for web, social, collateral, and promotional items for the Office of the Dean of Students and all the units within. They work in a fast-paced, rapidly-changing environment and manage a variety of projects while gaining valuable experience and creating work to add to their portfolios.
Responsibilities
Manage design projects as assigned by the Senior Graphic Designer through completion (ready to post or packaged to print)
Maintain University brand standards and individual consistency for different audiences, units and projects
Respond appropriately to design feedback, offer suggestions and find solutions for functional design
Demonstrate initiative by contributing creative ideas to enhance and evolve the department’s visual branding and design strategies
Collaborate with and provide guidance to a team of junior student designers as needed, fostering a supportive and productive creative environment.
Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or similar field
Full-time degree-seeking graduate in the field of graphic design or similar
Design experience with a portfolio of work
Adobe Creative Suite fluency
Strong communication skills, attention to detail, receptiveness to feedback, and the ability to produce results with limited supervision
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Typical office environment;Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation;Onsite at the SSB.
20 hours per week
Onsite at SSB during normal hours (Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm). Weekend or evening hours may occur, a social media graphic may need to be made quickly for an emergency event
