To assist in the coordination of an advising unit or program including oversight of staff, program implementation, external communications, data collection, outcome assessment, reports, and accountability for meeting program objectives, including managing more complex academic advising activities.
Coordinates student programs to include Internal Transfer Program, Engineering Undeclared, Readmission, process grade changes for the school, and manage caseload for denied repetition of course students.
Manages staff to organize all prospective and admitted student sessions for the school to include serving as the Cockrell School’s liaison with the Office of Admissions. Conducts freshmen prospective information sessions.
Leads EAB Navigate360 training efforts across the Cockrell School as well as serving on multiple EAB committees.
Conducts routine developmental academic advising to include managing adds/drops/withdrawals; appeal reviews; academic and scholastic warning advising and appeal reviews; crisis intervention advising; career counseling; resource referrals; major change and upper division advising; course selection advising for new freshmen; and assisting with the coordination of graduate student line up and commencement activities.
Work with a variety of offices across the University to develop updated CSE procedures/guidelines.
Participates in University-wide and School-wide activities such as Family Weekend, Order of the Engineer, Honors Day, and Commencement.
Collaborate with ESS leadership to explore assessment strategy.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Master’s degree and four years of experience working with college students in a counseling or advising capacity.
Experience managing professional staff.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Proven project management skills.
Demonstrated problem solving skills.
Ability to establish strong rapport with students, faculty and staff
Experience managing student programs.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Six or more years of relevant experience.
Demonstrated understanding of student’s issues in higher education.
Experience with EAB Navigate360 or similar student success software.
$78,000+ depending on qualifications
May work around standard office conditions
General office conditions with the majority of time spent in contact with students, staff, faculty and administrators both during and after usual office hours.
Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation
Standard work schedule is in-person on main UT campus, Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Work outside of normal business hours may be required on an occasional basis during peak periods.
