We are a passionate team of staff and volunteers focused on growing the sport of tennis and making it accessible to all. We are committed to removing barriers and creating opportunities for ALL to participate. Don’t know tennis? Don't worry, you can still find yourself in the game!

OVERVIEW: The Tennis Advocacy and Parks Coordinator will lead efforts to maintain, protect and expand tennis facilities and programming by working closely with municipalities, public and private facilities, and community organizations. The person in this role will be responsible for monitoring local government discussions, analyzing community feedback, developing data-driven reports, and coordinating advocacy initiatives to ensure the continued growth of tennis in Middle States. This position will be either fully remote or hybrid, depending on the location of the candidate. The candidate must reside within the Middle States Section.

  • Oversee the USTA/USTA Middle States Tennis Venue Services Program, providing strategic guidance on facility development, grant opportunities and project execution.
  • Gather and assess community and staff feedback to identify tennis courts at risk of removal or underutilization.
  • Compile and maintain a portfolio of relevant data and statistics, including reports with demographics and tennis participation.
  • Utilize a project management tool to track and share advocacy initiatives, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Regularly update and present progress reports to the Director of Community Development and key stakeholders.
  • Follow up with staff and external partners to acquire information needed for decision-making.
  • Identify, onboard and help coordinate volunteer tennis advocates within the section.
  • Develop and implement educational training modules for tennis advocates.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (PARKS):

  • Lead discussions with parks and recreation leaders to advocate for tennis — highlighting its benefits, available resources, programming ideas and infrastructure support.
  • Engage with new park providers while supporting existing sites to enhance tennis programming and facility use.
  • Research and identify parks or recreational spaces in need of improved court infrastructure, programming, and coaching resources.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to highlight community tennis programs through public relations, marketing, and newsletters.
  • Work with the Community team to expand play opportunities, manage activations, and support regional events.
  • Build relationships with influencers, ambassadors, and organizations to boost recreational tennis participation and awareness of USTA programs.
  • Plan exhibits and presentations for Park & Rec and other industry conferences, as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Highly-organized and motivated to make a difference in a growing, competitive space.
  • Commitment to fostering inclusion and respect for individuals from different backgrounds, identities and experiences.
  • Problem solver with the ability to work collaboratively across numerous departments and with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • High level of professionalism in a public setting. Confidence to present in front of large groups in both public and private settings.
  • Ability to understand viewpoints from various backgrounds.
  • Proficient with Google Drive and Microsoft Office Suite, with a knack for technology platforms and applications.
  • Knowledge of USTA programs and the tennis industry is preferred.
  • Meet travel demands, work nights and weekends as required.
