Uniswap Labs builds products that help millions of people access DeFi simply and securely - from the Uniswap Web App and Wallet to crypto infrastructure like the Uniswap Trading API and Unichain. We also contribute to the Uniswap Protocol, which has processed over $2.9 trillion in volume across thousands of tokens on Ethereum and 12+ other chains.
Unichain is our L2 chain - purpose-built to be the home for liquidity and DeFi. We're growing the team to tackle ambitious infrastructure challenges: improving performance, expanding capabilities, and ensuring rock-solid reliability as we scale.
We're looking for a Backend Engineer who thrives in ambiguity and wants to own meaningful projects from start to finish. You'll work alongside a talented team solving hard problems in blockchain infrastructure and distributed systems. This role is based in our SoHo, NYC headquarters with the option to be partially or fully remote.
Own projects end-to-end: scope requirements, design systems, implement solutions, and monitor them in production.
Write clean, well-tested Rust code and raise the bar through thoughtful code reviews.
Build and maintain infrastructure that keeps Unichain reliable, performant, and available 24/7.
Proactively identify gaps in our systems and propose practical solutions that move us forward.
Participate in on-call rotations to ensure chain stability and rapid incident response.
Work cross-functionally to turn complex, ambiguous problems into clear technical plans.
5+ years of backend engineering experience with a track record of shipping production systems.
Experience building and operating distributed systems or blockchain infrastructure.
Comfort with ambiguity: you can take an unclear problem, break it down, and deliver results.
Solid understanding of cloud architectures, system design, and debugging at scale.
Experience building systems from scratch (0→1) and iterating on them over time.
Genuine interest in Web3 and staying current with industry best practices.
Rust proficiency
Hands-on experience with the OP Stack or other Optimism-based rollups.
Familiarity with Reth or Kona - this is a significant plus.
Exposure to zero-knowledge (ZK) systems or cryptographic primitives.
Experience with observability tools and time-series monitoring.
Working knowledge of Go or TypeScript.
AWS or equivalent cloud platform experience.
Love for unicorns :)
