Position Summary
The Marketing & Communications Manager will play a vital role in shaping and executing the marketing and communications strategy for United Aviate Academy (UAA), both internally and externally. This position requires a strategic thinker with excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with various teams.
Key attributes for this role include strong leadership capabilities, creativity in developing marketing materials, and proficiency in digital communication tools. The Manager will serve as the primary liaison with the UAA leadership, United Airlines Corporate Communications, and the Aviate program marketing teams. The successful candidate will partner with various business units to craft and implement marketing communication programs, collateral, and events that align with strategic marketing and branding initiatives within a hybrid work environment.
Duties/Responsibilities
Strategic Marketing & Communications
Lead the development, planning, and execution of integrated marketing and communications strategies aligned with UAA’s goals for growth, retention, and engagement.
Partner with UAA leadership and key business units to assess needs, develop annual marketing and communications plans, and drive consistent execution.
Translate organizational initiatives into compelling messaging and campaigns, ensuring alignment with brand voice, mission, and core values (CORE4).
Develop and implement message mapping frameworks to clearly articulate UAA’s value propositions to internal and external audiences.
Content Development & Brand Management
Serve as lead storyteller for the Academy, creating and editing high-quality marketing collateral, presentations, and digital assets.
Oversee content creation for digital platforms, including website content, social media, newsletters, internal and external communications, and board meeting materials.
Evaluate and address digital content gaps to improve overall brand visibility and audience engagement.
Support Academy recruitment efforts through targeted content, campaigns, and event-driven marketing.
Apply strong attention to detail and creativity to produce engaging, high-quality marketing materials and campaigns. Leverage innovative thinking to enhance storytelling, branding, and audience engagement.
Maintain excellent organizational skills and follow-through to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously. Ensure timely execution of initiatives, meeting deadlines and supporting strategic objectives with consistency.
Maintain and organize a centralized library of photos and videos for marketing, branding, and archival purposes, ensuring assets are up-to-date, accessible, and aligned with UAA’s visual standards.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
Develop and execute communications targeting prospective and current students, staff, and external stakeholders.
Manage internal engagement initiatives, including student/employee Town Halls, surveys, Fireside Chats, and culture campaigns that support organizational awareness and retention.
Design, distribute, and analyze surveys to gather insights from students, staff, and stakeholders. Use results to inform engagement strategies, identify areas for improvement, and support data-driven decision-making.
Collaborate with on-campus clubs, student organizations, and business resource groups to support community engagement, event promotion, and aligned messaging.
Act as point of contact and editor for all media-related activities, including events involving local, state, federal, and corporate UA entities.
Event Management
Manage and participate in Academy events, conferences, and United Airlines site visits, ensuring all marketing and branding efforts are strategically represented.
Create and distribute flyers to promote events across campus, while also managing and updating the events calendar to ensure accurate scheduling.
Coordinate promotional efforts and ensure consistent messaging and engagement across all touchpoints during events and milestones.
Social Media & Digital Presence
Manage UAA’s social media platforms ensuring consistent branding, messaging, and audience growth.
Maintain the UAA website with timely updates regarding programs, application availability, news, and upcoming events.
Research, Analysis & Reporting
Conduct and analyze market research to inform strategic decisions and optimize campaign effectiveness.
Prepare and present marketing insights, campaign results, and engagement metrics to stakeholders.
Budget & Vendor Management
Oversee the marketing and communications budget, aligning expenditures with strategic priorities.
Manage vendor relationships and procurement processes in collaboration with UA’s corporate procurement team.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work cross-functionally with UA departments to ensure coordinated communications and updates regarding activities, milestones, and initiatives.
Support management with ad-hoc strategic and communications-related projects and any other duties
Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned in support of the Academy’s broader mission.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Experience
4+ years’ experience in the field or equivalent
Proven ability to develop and execute strategic marketing and communication plans across digital and print channels.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including copywriting for digital (e-blasts, newsletters, blogs), print (flyers, brochures, banners), and internal communications
Proficient in content creation using platforms such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
Social media expertise, including content planning, community management, and analytics (Instagram Professional Dashboard or equivalent).
Experienced with digital marketing tools and platforms such as Qualtrics, Constant Contact, Google Analytics, Microsoft Forms, Strong leadership and collaboration skills with the ability to work across business units and manage stakeholder expectations.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Teams, SharePoint, PowerBI and experience a plus
Creative, independent, and highly organized with strong follow-through and accountability.
Demonstrated ability to lead and contribute to a positive team culture.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Business or Marketing and Communications or equivalent leadership experience
