Overview

The ADA Coordinator within the Office of Equity and Inclusion, Human Rights Division will advance the City's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion by investigating complaints, supporting the Commission on Disabilities, promoting the city's ADA accessibility compliance with municipal, state, and federal accessibility codes and regulations for all city projects and facilities, and tracking the City’s compliance with its Transition Plan. 

The ADA Coordinator will collaborate with the Office of Equity and Inclusion’s other divisions: Welcoming Communities & Immigrant Affairs, Fair Housing, and Equity.

Essential Functions

1 Advances the ADA Transition Plan and support adherence to the American with Disabilities Act of 1990 by working with internal and external partners on barrier removal and policy revisions. 2 Manages 311 ADA requests. Supports the Commission on Disabilities.

3 Conducts best practices research.

4 Continues to advance the implementation of the Kimley-Horn contract and monitor and update the Transition Plan per DoJ requirements.

5 Liaises with assigned departments to ensure internal relationships are maintained to advance our work.

6 Reviews implementation the ADA Transition Plan. Reviews progress of City Racial Equity Plan.

7 Coordinates the full integration of Resilience Strategies through an equity impact lens throughout Council Committee's work.

8 Addresses and improves transportation and micro-mobility issues to meet quality of life, economic development, and mental health goals.

9 Develops actions around creating more diverse neighborhoods in Dallas.

10 Researches national best practices for Best to Place Work designation and related actionable activities.

11 Coordinates the integration of recommendations from the Mayor’s Taskforce of Workforce Development into the Committee’s work.

12 Performs any and all other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, Engineering, Architecture, Sociology, Social Work, Communication, Education or related field

Experience

Two (2) years of experience related to community outreach, community assistance, or citizen response programs.

Licenses and Certifications

None

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1 Skill in critical thinking, analytical, planning and organizational skills and the ability to understand and explain complex policies and regulation.

2 Skill in Microsoft Office Applications. Knowledge of Human Rights issues and concerns.

3 Ability to handle complex situations, particularly those with a high level of confidentiality and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines.

4 Ability to interpret federal, state, and local affirmative action, equal opportunity, and nondiscrimination laws and regulations.

5 Ability to develop and implement training curricula.

6 Ability to conduct research and prepare and present clear and accurate reports.

7 Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

8 Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.



Salary Range

 

$27.45 - $32.58
