Skills
- Advanced SQL and Python for complex data processing and automation
- Experience with Databricks, Spark SQL, and PySpark
- Hands-on experience with large healthcare claims datasets and medical coding systems (ICD10, CPT, HCPCS, MS DRG, NPI)
- Statistical modeling skills including regression, imputation, and risk scoring
- Familiarity with data lineage, dependency tracking, and pipeline impact analysis
- Experience refactoring legacy analytics (e.g., SAS) into modern pipelines
- Collaboration with data engineering and product teams; use of Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket
- Strong problem-solving, time management, and communication skills
Responsibilities
- Analyze national medical and pharmacy claims datasets to create measures and analytics for Trella’s SaaS products.
- Design, build, and maintain scalable Databricks workflows and jobs for claims processing.
- Develop and optimize PySpark and Spark SQL pipelines for performance, reliability, and efficiency.
- Implement data quality monitoring and validation frameworks to ensure data completeness and accuracy.
- Refactor legacy SAS scripts into modern Databricks/PySpark implementations.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on healthcare data sources, coding systems, and methodology.
- Collaborate with product and data engineering teams to define specifications, scope projects, and deliver analytic requirements.
- Perform independent research and continuous learning to improve healthcare domain knowledge and analytic techniques.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (e.g., Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering) or equivalent experience
- Master’s degree in a technical field preferred but not required
