Skills
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in Texas or ability to obtain within six months
- Civil engineering design and construction experience for public infrastructure
- Traffic safety study and countermeasure development experience
- Familiarity with TMUTCD, PROWAG, AASHTO, and NACTO design guidance
- Project management and contract procurement experience
- Experience with asset management systems (VueWorks preferred)
- Strong public engagement and communication skills
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of one engineer and two engineering technicians
- Develop and implement safety countermeasure concepts for Vision Zero initiatives
- Respond to public service requests and coordinate field investigations and data collection
- Manage pedestrian infrastructure and school traffic safety projects including scopes, schedules, and budgets
- Coordinate with contractors, department teams, and community stakeholders to implement projects
- Use VueWorks Enterprise Asset Management System to plan, track, and maintain transportation asset records
- Develop and manage sidewalk contract procurement and serve as compliance manager
- Recommend and implement short-term countermeasures such as signs, markings, and flashing beacons
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited institution
- Possession of Professional Engineer registration in Texas (or ability to obtain within six months)
