The City of Fort Worth Environmental Services Department protects the environment and promotes sustainable neighborhoods through community education, waste management, and pollution prevention. The Planner II will coordinate Keep Fort Worth Beautiful programs, support planning and analytics projects, and use GIS and data analysis to inform and evaluate environmental initiatives while engaging diverse internal and external stakeholders.

Skills

  • Proficiency with GIS and mapping tools
  • Strong data analysis, statistics, and data visualization skills
  • Skilled technical and public-facing writing and editing
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with project management and program coordination
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to present findings clearly in written and oral formats
  • Familiarity with document layout/graphic tools (e.g., Adobe InDesign) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and lead Keep Fort Worth Beautiful programs and large public-facing projects
  • Gather, analyze, and report data relevant to environmental planning and program performance
  • Support special studies, program evaluation, and develop statistical reports
  • Assist in developing and reviewing city ordinances and documentation related to environmental planning
  • Prepare technical and grant writing, reports, and public-facing communications
  • Conduct GIS mapping, data visualization, and local neighborhood-level environmental studies
  • Plan and support outreach, education events, and community engagement activities
  • Manage multiple projects collaboratively and respond to short-term project requests

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Urban Planning/Design, GIS, Geography, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Historic Preservation, Real Estate Development, or related field
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in planning, urban design, or a related field
