Staff Product Manager, Workflow Platform

Temporal is an open-source-first company building a durable, scalable workflow platform used by developers to simplify complex distributed applications. The Staff Product Manager for Workflow Platform will define the vision, APIs, and developer experience for long-running workflows, messaging, interactivity, and platform-level reliability to make Temporal the default choice for durable and interactive applications.

Skills

  • Product strategy and roadmap definition for platform and developer-facing products
  • API design and primitives for developer experience
  • Experience with distributed systems, durability, and fault tolerance
  • Working knowledge of performance, cost, and scheduling tradeoffs at scale
  • Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional leadership
  • Customer and developer research, discovery, and validation

Responsibilities

  • Define product vision and roadmap for long-running workflows, messaging, interactivity, scheduling, and reliability
  • Translate customer and developer needs into clear APIs, semantics, and developer UX
  • Partner with engineering to make tradeoffs on performance, reliability, cost, and scalability
  • Lead discovery and research with teams building agents, workflow-driven systems, and interactive apps
  • Drive cross-team alignment across SDKs, cloud, and runtime components
  • Specify scheduling, batching, and global orchestration models for large-scale workloads
  • Own operational controls, retry semantics, recovery tooling, and cost-efficiency strategies
  • Represent the product externally to customers, community, and internal stakeholders

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience
  • Advanced degree (preferred but not required)
