- Experience with production automation and manual switching operations
- Proficiency with video switchers, video servers and newsroom computer systems
- Camera operation, floor directing and teleprompter experience
- Graphics creation, audio mixing and lighting familiarity
- Non-linear editing and content management system usage
- Strong troubleshooting and technical problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork across multiple departments
- Ability to adapt quickly for breaking news and unexpected events
Responsibilities
- Direct daily live newscasts and recorded shows using production automation and manual switching
- Oversee the overall look and pacing of newscasts and on-air programming
- Identify and correct potential problems prior to air; perform real-time troubleshooting
- Collaborate with news, production and technical teams to execute program vision
- Operate and/or supervise floor directing, camera operation, teleprompter, graphics, audio and lighting
- Use non-linear editing and content management systems for programming, commercials and digital content
- Perform other production department duties as assigned and cover flexible shifts including weekends, early mornings, nights or holidays
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, TV Production, or related field preferred
- Equivalent professional broadcast experience may be substituted for degree
- Relevant technical or production certifications are a plus
