The College of Graduate Studies at Texas A&M University–San Antonio is seeking a dynamic, student-centered professional to serve as Associate Director of Proyecto Éxito, a grant-funded leadership role supported by the PPOHA grant. This position integrates oversight of El Centro, the university’s graduate student success center, with responsibility for faculty professional development, student programming, and grant administration. The Associate Director will manage daily operations, supervise staff, support strategic initiatives, and ensure the delivery of high-impact practices that enhance graduate student success. This role is essential to the long-term sustainability and impact of Proyecto Éxito.
Salary: $70,000 annually
Responsibilities:
Stay in compliance with all PPOHA grant requirements.
Assist the director with the grant administration and monitor program performance and report progress.
Collaborate with the College of Graduate Studies and Proyecto Èxito staff, other departments and faculty to meet student needs, and to continuously meet goals and objectives in a timely manner.
Organize and oversee the program daily operations including timely implementation of all required activities, as detailed in the grant proposal and in accordance with university policies.
Hire, supervise, evaluate, and train full-time and part-time project staff, including consultants.
Monitor the grant timelines, program budget, and maintain proper documentation.
Lead formative and summative evaluation and improvement of project by working with external evaluator(s) and consultant(s).
Provide general support and referrals to graduate students.
Collaborates with internal and external partners to optimize delivery of project services and serves as a liaison between the project and project consultants, students, and funding agency.
Provide daily oversight of El Centro, ensuring it is adequately staffed, and student services are consistently delivered, and collecting user data for El Centro.
Develop and coordinate academic workshops, wellness programs, and cocurricular events for graduate students.
Manage marketing, outreach, and social media efforts related to Proyecto Èxito, El Centro services and programs.
Oversee purchasing needs, inventory, and budgetary tracking.
Collect and analyze student usage and service data for institutional reporting and continuous improvement.
Lead faculty professional development initiatives aligned with graduate education best practices and culturally responsive pedagogy.
Oversee the Faculty Fellows and graduate mentoring programs, coordinate selection and evaluation.
Identify and organize on-campus and external professional development opportunities.
Hire and coordinate external graduate tutors, trainers and facilitators.
Design and administer satisfaction surveys and assessment tools to evaluate program impact.
Assist with the development of job descriptions for tutors, mentors, and fellows in coordination with grant or project staff.
Program Administration & Data Reporting.
Collect and manage program data to support grant reporting, assessment, and improvement.
Maintain the data tracking systems for student services and faculty engagement.
Participate in grant activities, team meetings, and liaise with the external evaluator.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or higher.
Eight (8) years of related experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, educational leadership, or a related field.
At least three years of professional experience in graduate student services, faculty development, academic programming, or related areas.
Previous experience working in higher education, particularly with graduate students.
Experience working with underrepresented student populations.
Experience developing and leading professional faculty development programs.
Experience supervising professional and/or student staff.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated knowledge of culturally responsive pedagogy and academic practices.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects, supervise staff, and collaborate across departments.
Familiarity with student development theory and graduate education best practices.
