Skills
- Leadership experience managing distributed and contractor-heavy engineering teams
- Proven track record modernizing PHP, WordPress, and Ruby systems into API-driven architectures
- Strong expertise in React, TypeScript, and Next.js
- Deep AWS infrastructure, automation, and cost-optimization knowledge
- Familiarity with serverless patterns and data streaming (Lambda, Kinesis, Kafka)
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and microservice/API design
- Understanding of data engineering, ETL/ELT, and analytics architectures
- Experience with cybersecurity, data protection, and regulatory compliance (SOC 2, GDPR, CCPA)
Responsibilities
- Assess current platforms and define consolidation strategy to reduce redundancy
- Modernize the core admin platform and migrate legacy systems to modular, API-driven architecture
- Optimize AWS infrastructure for reliability and cost efficiency
- Build automation to replace manual processes and improve deployment pipelines
- Lead and grow a distributed engineering organization across the US, Mexico, and Brazil
- Establish consistent engineering practices, processes, and standards across brands
- Create career development paths and improve team retention
- Partner with brand product and business leaders to translate strategy into roadmaps
- Establish security protocols, compliance standards, and drive remediation efforts
- Standardize reporting and metrics (GMV, conversion, payout accuracy, reliability)
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Advanced degree (MS/MBA) or relevant certifications preferred but not required
