Skills
- Proficiency in a systems programming language (Go preferred; Python, C/C++, Rust acceptable)
- Experience building and operating cloud-native services (Kubernetes, object storage)
- Practical experience with distributed systems and multi-tenant architectures
- Familiarity with observability tooling (Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, Tempo) and telemetry pipelines
- Experience with performance, reliability, and scalability engineering practices
- Comfort working in a remote-first environment with strong communication skills
- Experience with on-call responsibilities and production operations
Responsibilities
- Design, build, operate, and maintain critical telemetry database systems (logs/metrics/traces/profiles) running in cloud environments
- Drive projects end-to-end from ideation and requirements through implementation and production operations
- Own reliability, performance, availability, and operational runbooks for services you ship
- Participate in on-call rotations and troubleshoot production incidents
- Contribute to and collaborate on open-source projects related to the Databases stack
- Mentor and support other engineers, participate in design reviews and roadmap planning
- Iterate on shipped features using customer feedback and operational data
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- Or equivalent hands-on experience building large-scale backend systems
