PCB Manufacturing Engineer, External (Starshield)
Skills
- Hands-on knowledge of PCB fabrication, laminates, and microelectronics processes
- Familiarity with supplier quality processes (PPAP, APQP) and quality systems (AS9100/NADCAP/ISO)
- Statistical techniques: SPC, DOE, Six Sigma fundamentals
- Experience with failure analysis and root cause methodologies (8D, RCCA)
- Strong cross-functional communication, presentation, and supplier-facing skills
- Ability to travel frequently (25-60%) and work flexible hours to meet deadlines
Responsibilities
- Own continuity of supply for PCBs and related components on the Starshield program
- Collaborate with design, R&D, reliability, procurement, and production to manage suppliers and production flow
- Evaluate, audit, and onboard new suppliers and assess manufacturing processes and quality systems
- Develop and implement supplier technical requirements, quality flow-downs, and process controls
- Execute and monitor PPAP and qualification activities to enable rate production
- Lead supplier root cause failure analysis (RCCA) and corrective actions for quality issues
- Analyze supplier quality and delivery metrics to identify trends and drive improvement plans
- Provide technical feedback to suppliers to reduce cost, cycle time, and defect opportunities
- Act as internal owner of supplier SPC, yield improvement, and new tool/process qualification
- Lead cross-functional projects and present findings to teams, management, and suppliers
Education
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline (required)
- Advanced degree in engineering, business, or supply chain (preferred)
