Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant STEM field
- 1+ years in manufacturing, quality, or design engineering (internship or student team qualifies)
- Experience performing PFMEA and risk assessments
- Familiarity with functional safety (SIS/SIL) and safety code review
- Ability to serve as or work with Laser Safety Officer responsibilities
- Proficiency with CAD and engineering analysis tools
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
Responsibilities
- Establish safety tools, procedures, and standards for production process planning and optimization
- Perform risk assessments on complex industrial machinery and tooling
- Design and validate functional safety systems (SIS, SIL) and review applicable safety code
- Serve as the department Laser Safety Officer (LSO)
- Conduct PFMEAs and maintain control plans to uphold safe manufacturing processes
- Analyze tooling and ground support equipment (GSE) for safety and load factors
- Provide safety design guidance for high-pressure and chemical delivery systems
- Participate in test readiness reviews and cross-functional design reviews
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, materials, manufacturing, chemical, electrical engineering, or another STEM field
- Master’s degree in a related engineering discipline preferred
