Falcon Recovery Controller

SpaceX, a leader in aerospace innovation focused on enabling human life on Mars, is seeking a Falcon Recovery Controller to join the Falcon Recovery Controller Team in Cape Canaveral, FL. The role involves operating and developing Falcon 9 landing operations and controlling recovery vessels and launch systems as part of the launch team.

Skills

  • Multi-disciplinary engineering knowledge and experience in test, automation, dynamic positioning, or integration engineering.
  • Experience with control and monitoring of complex automated systems and risk assessment.
  • Strong project management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead execution of Falcon 9 landing and recovery operations controlling recovery vessels, flight proven boosters, and launch countdown automation.
  • Coordinate and troubleshoot offshore operations remotely with engineering teams and technicians.
  • Set up and operate drone ship systems to facilitate booster landings and crew transfers.
  • Complete post-landing safing, fluid system processing, and monitor Falcon 9 first stage.
  • Develop automation for drone ships and Falcon 9 rocket to enhance recovery operations.
  • Identify and propose upgrades to recovery hardware, software, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with Guidance Navigation & Control, Avionics, and Stage engineers to ensure proper configuration.
  • Contribute to system and procedural development of autonomous vessels and maritime operations.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline is required.
  • Advanced degree in engineering preferred.
